Leaving Abaddon

LA is an independent platform focused on human trafficking, child sexual exploitation, trauma-informed communication, and sustainable recovery.

Through lived-experience-informed research, education, and consultation, the platform helps bridge the gap between what survivors experience and how professionals, institutions, and society respond.

Lived experience transforming understanding, response, and recovery.

True healing Begins when

survivors can finally feel safe.

Safety creates the foundation for trust, connection, and sustainable recovery. When the body no longer has to remain in survival mode, healing can begin.

BEHIND THE PLATFORM

Ana.

The platform brings together lived experience, research, education, and practical wellbeing to examine how sexual exploitation is experienced, why survivor responses are so often misunderstood, and how professionals and institutions can respond with greater insight, care, and accountability.

LA also draws attention to the role of rehabilitation and body wellness following sexual exploitation. It supports professionals, as well as others who come into contact with victims and survivors, in understanding how safety, physical wellbeing, stability, trust, and personal agency can shape a person’s capacity to re-engage with everyday life, education, employment, and relationships.

The aim is to encourage professional responses that are better informed, more sensitive to the realities of exploitation, and more supportive of long-term rehabilitation.

SAFE COMMUNICATION CHANGES OUTCOMES

Survivors are often judged for the very responses that helped them survive.

Survivor behaviour is often interpreted without understanding the trauma, coercion, and survival strategies behind it. Trauma-aware communication helps professionals look beyond what is immediately visible and respond with greater accuracy, safety, and compassion.

Professional Awarness

Training and educational sessions focused on exploitation, trauma responses, communication, victim blaming, institutional misunderstanding, and trauma-aware professional practice.

Consultation and Collaboration

Consultation, reflective practice, research input, and collaborative support for organizations, professionals, and projects working within exploitation, safeguarding, victim support, recovery, or related fields.

Sometimes, the Best way to begin is with a Conversation.

Stronger responses begin with a deeper understanding of what survivors experience and what their behaviour may be communicating.
